Anastasia Vendrov-De Santi โ€” Let me take you on a Jewish local tour in Florence or Tuscany

Private tours in English in Florence, Tuscany and selected destinations in Italy ๐Ÿ’›

Anastasia Vendrov-De Santi โ€” Jewish Israeli-Italian living in Florence and Tuscany for over 20 years. Born in Kiev to a Jewish family with deep generational roots โ€” people who had to hide their identity for years, but never let it go. As soon as it became possible, my family founded the first Jewish school in Kiev. Soon after, they fulfilled their lifelong dream of moving to Israel โ€” where the very first thing they did was their chuppah.

I grew up, lived and studied in Israel. During my university years at Bar-Ilan University, I met my Italian husband. When I finished my studies I came to Florence โ€” the capital of Tuscany โ€” for love (and not necessarily for Italy ๐Ÿ˜Š). And then I fell in love with this place too, and I stayed.

โ€” Through Jewish local eyes โ€”

Together with my Italian husband we built here a real Israeli-Italian family. My daughters were born here and grow up between two different cultures, two languages and two worlds โ€” and it’s not always easy. But we never forget our identity, and all the family history that had to be carried through to keep it alive โ€” deeply rooted in us. Together with my husband, we created a Jewish home for our kids.

I take you through Florence, Tuscany and selected destinations in Italy โ€” through local eyes. On every Jewish local Florence tour, you’re not tourists โ€” you’re our guests. I accompany you all the way โ€” from the moment you message me on WhatsApp until after you’ve returned home. You can keep asking questions even after the tour, based on need and availability.

My story

How Florence became home

When I arrived in Florence out of love, I didn’t know I’d stay here forever. However, day after day I fell in love with this country too โ€” its landscapes, its authentic food, and the people who live here. Florence, Tuscany and all of Italy have become my home.

My connection to Florence and Tuscany

My husband was born and raised in Florence and knows the city and the small roads of Tuscany since childhood. Together we combine my Israeli perspective, my local life for over 20 years, and his deep Italian familiarity with the region. Thanks to this combination, our tours are not just a list of sites โ€” but a local, personal experience connected to the place.

Over the years I studied Tuscan history, art, culture and gastronomy. Most importantly, I lived these places from inside. In fact, I know the authentic family wineries across Tuscany โ€” including kosher wineries like Cantina Giuliani and Terra di Seta. I also know the markets of Florence and the small authentic towns outside the city โ€” places that remained genuine and less touristy.

We love to travel through villages and areas like Val d’Orcia with its magical landscapes, Chianti and its family wineries (including kosher wineries like Cantina Giuliani and Terra di Seta), San Gimignano and its towers, Tuscany’s hot springs, and also along the hidden paths my husband knows from his childhood. Even when we’re not working, we love to take family day trips to other areas in Tuscany and to selected destinations in Italy โ€” places that sometimes our clients ask us to take them to. And we’re happy to share all this knowledge with you, out of real love for this place.

My connection to the Jewish community

Part of the Florence Jewish community

I’m part of the Florence Jewish community. Together with my husband and daughters we participate in Jewish activities at the local, national and international level. We also join Chabad activities and events. Same Shabbat candles, same humor, same heart.

Hidden Jewish stories of Florence

I never stop being amazed by all the hidden Jewish stories of Florence. People walk through the streets, past stones, past doors, past houses. However, they don’t know what’s hiding behind them. A stone with Hebrew inscription, a small symbol, a forgotten tombstone. Also, the story of a family that lived here 500 years ago.

On my Jewish heritage tours in Florence I reveal these stories to you. For example, the magnificent Great Synagogue, the Jewish Museum next to it, stones with verses, and biblical figures from the Torah. Moreover, you’ll walk the Ghetto streets and see characters you read about with your own eyes. Afterwards, you can tell me if that’s how you imagined them ๐Ÿ˜Š. I know where to look. More importantly, I know how to tell the story. It’s not something I learned from a book โ€” it’s something I live.

Beyond Florence: Pitigliano

When we leave Florence, there’s also Pitigliano โ€” the “Little Jerusalem” of Tuscany. In fact, it’s a 16th-century synagogue, cellars carved into the rock, a historic kosher bakery. Therefore, it’s a completely different Jewish story from Florence’s. Located on a tuff hill in southern Tuscany, it deserves a full day all to itself.

Who my Jewish local Florence tour is for

From profession to passion

All this has become my profession over the years. Today, I welcome travelers from around the world on a private Jewish local Florence tour and Tuscany day trips. The experience is offered in English, and also in Hebrew, Italian and Russian. Always through local eyes. I build private and personally customized tours for couples, families with children, multigenerational families, groups of friends, solo women travelers, independent travelers, senior travelers, travelers with physical disabilities, and Chabad groups. And on every tour I’m still as excited as the first time.

๐Ÿ“ธ Tour photography on request โ€” usually I take special moments during the day and send the photos to you after the tour, so they stay with you as a memory.

With me, no two tours are the same. Every day is built around you โ€” who you are, what interests you, what your pace is, and what you want to take home as a memory. I welcome you with warmth, sensitivity and an open heart.

๐Ÿ’› Not a large group tour

WOW TOSCANA is not a large group tour. Private, fully customized tours โ€” available in English, Hebrew, Italian or Russian โ€” with direct personal guidance from Anastasia, based on availability.

Private Jewish local Florence tour with Anastasia โ€” so you feel at home

I build the right day for every traveler.

Solo women travelers

If you’re traveling alone โ€” I’m here for you. I plan the pace with you, accompany you throughout the day, and make sure you feel comfortable, safe and relaxed. A local with heart and a real sense of accompaniment.

Multigenerational families

Grandparents, parents, children and grandchildren โ€” all together on the same day. I build the day at the right pace for everyone, with breaks, places to sit, comfort stops and food that fits the whole family. I make sure every participant feels comfortable.

Families with children

With me kids don’t get bored. I build the tour so children also get involved and enjoy โ€” with stories, riddles, sweet stops and surprises adapted to your family (including kosher options if needed). Parents enjoy too, and kids remember this trip long after they go home.

Independent travelers

If you love traveling your own way, but want local eyes, good guidance and precise planning โ€” I’m here for you. I help you build a personal, flexible, non-touristy day that fits exactly your pace and style.

Senior travelers

If it matters to you to travel at a gentle pace, with comfort, organized stops and personal accompaniment โ€” I build the day exactly for you. When we arrive in pairs, it’s much easier to give real attention, help when needed and a sense of security throughout the way.

Travelers with physical disabilities

I plan the route with sensitivity and attention โ€” with appropriate pace, comfortable stops, accessible route according to Florence and Tuscany terrain conditions, and personal accompaniment throughout the day. The fact that we often arrive in pairs allows us to give better support, so the experience is pleasant, calm and respectful.

๐ŸŒฟ We’re a small, dedicated team. I lead the tours, and my Italian husband often joins us to help with logistics and practical support, so the whole group gets real attention. Especially when we arrive in pairs, it’s easier to give closer, calmer and more supportive accompaniment to senior travelers and people with physical disabilities, and also a sense of peace and security for those traveling alone.

With me, you’re not tourists โ€” you’re our guests. I and a small, dedicated team welcome you with warmth, sensitivity and an open heart.

Today I know these places from inside, like a local resident, and that’s what comes across in every tour.

Absolutely. I’m a member of the Jewish community of Florence and a friend of Chabad in Tuscany. I help in advance finding solutions for kosher food, Shabbat planning, Synagogue, mikveh and connection with a local rabbi as needed. There are also kosher wineries in Tuscany (like Cantina Giuliani and Terra di Seta) โ€” if you want to include kosher wine tasting too. Every tour is built with respect and understanding of your lifestyle.

Yes. As a member of the Florence Jewish community, I work regularly with religious families and observant travelers โ€” coordinating kosher meals, Shabbat-friendly itineraries, Synagogue visits, mikveh, and I can put you in contact with the local Jewish community and a local rabbi as needed.
